Radana Brumarová, Ph.D.
01Senior Researcher
Radana is interested in biochemical pathways, metabolomics, lipidomics and metabolic disorders. She focuses on biochemical interpretation and evaluation for understanding changes in metabolic pathways.
The team
A multidisciplinary team connecting clinical biochemistry, mass spectrometry, metabolomics, lipidomics and translational data analysis.
Who we are
The Clinical Mass Spectrometry Group brings together clinical laboratory specialists, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students and data analysts working at the interface of laboratory medicine, omics technologies and clinical research.
We are based at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University Hospital Olomouc, and collaborate with clinical teams, research institutes and international partners.
Head of the group
Department of Clinical Biochemistry, University Hospital and Palacký University Olomouc
David Friedecký leads the Clinical Mass Spectrometry Group, focusing on the development and clinical translation of LC-MS/MS methods, metabolomics and lipidomics workflows for laboratory medicine. His work connects clinical biochemistry, inherited metabolic disorders, translational omics and biomarker discovery.

Eliška specialises in targeted LC-MS/MS analysis, covering the entire analytical workflow from method development and validation to implementation in routine clinical diagnostics and research. Her primary focus includes the diagnosis of inherited metabolic disorders and metabolic alterations across metabolic, oncological, haematological and autoimmune diseases, as well as veterinary medicine. She is expanding her expertise in untargeted profiling using LC-HRMS and coordinates analytical work within the team, ensuring the reliable operation of the laboratory's LC-MS/MS systems.
4th year PhD Student
Jakub specialises in targeted lipidomics and LC-MS/MS analysis, with a focus on lipidomic data processing, statistical evaluation and visualisation. His research characterises lipidome alterations associated with inflammatory and metabolic diseases. Current projects include lipidomic profiling of paediatric patients with inflammatory bowel diseases and longitudinal lipidome changes in patients undergoing bariatric surgery. He is also extending lipidomic approaches to unconventional matrices, including honeybee haemolymph.
3rd year PhD Student
Martina specialises in LC-MS/MS method development and targeted lipidomic analysis. Her research includes the diagnosis and investigation of atypical myopathy in horses, particularly hypoglycin A exposure and related metabolic alterations. She is involved in clinical lipidomics projects focused on infection in synovial fluid, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and autoimmune disorders. Her collaborative work also extends to plant biology, where targeted LC-MS/MS analysis of plant sterols supports research into hormone signalling and sterol metabolism.
3rd year PhD Student
Martina specialises in targeted metabolomics and LC-MS/MS method development. Her research includes the development of a method for the simultaneous determination of cytidine deaminase and deoxycytidylate deaminase activities, with the aim of improving diagnosis and treatment optimisation in patients with haematological malignancies. She is also involved in metabolomic profiling of cancer cells, drug-treated cells, metabolic alterations associated with neurodegenerative diseases, and changes related to GPR180 silencing and thermogenesis.
2nd year PhD Student
Antonín specialises in the implementation and development of semi-automated data processing workflows in Python, with a focus on improving the efficiency, reproducibility and standardisation of metabolomic and lipidomic data analysis. His work involves developing, optimising and applying scripts for processing, evaluating and visualising complex mass spectrometry datasets. He is also involved in targeted and untargeted analysis of unconventional biological matrices, including honeybee larvae, human vitreous humour and amniotic fluid.
1st year PhD Student
Richard's work combines targeted lipidomics and metabolomics using LC-MS/MS, complemented by experience in untargeted LC-HRMS profiling. His research covers systemic lupus erythematosus, diabetic retinopathy and hypouricaemia, with an additional focus on cardiovascular risk assessment. He also contributes to LC-MS/MS method development for diagnostic markers of inherited metabolic disorders and to targeted workflows for sterol analysis in plant biology collaborations.
